Today, we’re excited to announce our 4th Annual Climate Capital Summit, taking place on Thursday, September 24th in New York City!
Since our inaugural Summit in 2023, a LOT has changed in the world of climate capital. In 2021, the climate investing market was in a resurgence unlike anything we had seen in the prior decade. The moment was steeped in sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon abatement. Today, we’re focused on addressing AI bottlenecks and innovation in nuclear energy. In between these two periods, there was a lull where companies related to climate felt nearly untouchable by mainstream venture capital.
For audacious endeavors that require capital throughout their lifecycle, these peaks and troughs can be perilous. We started Climate Capital Summit to ensure that there was a forum for engaged innovators to come together regardless of where we were in the hype cycle. We never intended to capture a trend, but rather to advance what we believe is the multi-decade transformation of the energy industry. Having hosted thousands of people who represent hundreds of billions of dollars of companies and trillions of capital, we’re proud to bring this group together for our most ambitious summit yet.
Energy is back in the zeitgeist as the clear limiting factor to AI’s ascent:
How do we produce enough energy to satisfy the power needs of the AI wave?
How do we power AI without destroying our environment?
How do we protect our environment without undermining economic prosperity and affordability?
Can AI help us discover energy breakthroughs that have evaded us for decades, providing the holy grail of clean, abundant and affordable energy?
These are the questions the market is asking today. We will tackle these (and others) at this year’s Summit. Perhaps the most important consideration is, “What can we learn from past climate investing cycles?” We often ask ourselves this question at Equal Ventures, and it’s one of the reasons why we cherish the opportunity to assemble this group of leading investors, executives, and innovators.
