In February of this year, we announced the launch of our fund Equal Ventures, and alongside it shared that we would be bringing on a new investment professional onto our team. We’re extremely excited today to share that Simran Suri has joined our team as an Analyst.

Simran joins us after graduating from Johns Hopkins University where she demonstrated a stellar array of accomplishments. During her collegiate career, she gained deal experience at investment firms Greenspring Associates & SoGal Ventures, honed her analysis skills with consulting roles in Vista Equity’s Consulting Group and at CreditSights, and got hands-on startup experience while working at venture-backed startup Predata.

If achieving all of that wasn’t impressive enough, she was also a Managing Partner of A-Level Capital, a venture fund focused on backing students, alumni and faculty members out of Johns Hopkins, and was a leader in numerous other campus organizations. At A-Level, Simran was not only responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, but also played a key role in helping to build A-Level into one of the most widely respected student-led venture funds in the nation.

As we set out to add our newest team member, our intention had been to hire someone with 2–4 years of work experience who we felt could hit the ground running. We ended up having hundreds of candidates apply from top consulting, banking, and VC/PE firms, putting many of them through a rigorous case study process.

Despite competing with candidates with several years of additional work experience, Simran blew us away along every step in the process with her passion & knowledge of the industry coupled with her hustle and ability to leverage the skills she had developed through her prior roles. This was especially evident in our case, where Simran leveraged her research skills and network in the startup world to go to a level of depth that was deeper and more insightful than any of the other candidates in our process. Our impressions were equally matched by all of those that she has worked with in the past and we’re certain she will be quick to make an impression at Equal.
